Fall Show I love.....

It's Christy again and today I am discussing a new show on FOX called The New Girl.  Zooey Deschanel plays Jess, a quirky girl who caught her boyfriend with another girl and he caught her in her b-day suit.(SURPRISE!)
She moves in with these 3 guys, who are every guy I've ever met rolled together. Its hilarious. Its on Tuesdays at 9pm. Please watch it!

Simple Fall Decor

I LOVE all of the over the top Fall décor that is floating around the internet and blog land. In my dream world, my house would also look the same way. However, working full time, being a mother, and wife, it is just not possible. That does not include Christmas! I go ALL out!  Anyway, below is my simple Fall décor. I basically only decorated a table in the living room and dining room table.

Entry table in the Living Room: Pumpkin and green  glass containers are from Hobby Lobby, leaf plate is from Wal-Mart last season, and rectangular glass vase I have had for years. Andrew and I had so much picking acorns for the vase!

This wreath is hanging on the cabinets beside the fridge. I have had it for years and do not remember where I bought it. The pumpkin on the island is also from Hobby Lobby several years ago.

This is the dining room: Candle holders were in the bedroom, but they were relocated and replaced with orange candles. The pumpkin is from Michaels and I pushed the flowers through the top a few years ago.

Simple, short, and EASY to pack away for Christmas décor!!

So, do you like to go all out or keep it simple for Fall?

Feather me crazy!

My new must have of the season are......wait for it......FEATHER HAIR EXTENSIONS! And who of all people turned me on to this trendy idea....My wonderful mother, who just had a birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Anyway, the more I see of these feathery hair pieces the more I want to partake. The extensions are available world wide in salons but I have decided I am going to DIY it. I love the organic appeal they have. They are easy to do yourself, no glue. Just pick your destination, place a strand of your hair through the mircobead, place the feather extension in microbead with the strand of hair, clamp the bead and that's it.  I ordered my extension from a website I found DonnaBellaHairExtensions.com this is the combination I chose.

They have many different choices for every ones taste. I haven't got them yet but I am standing by the door waiting for the FedEx guy. As soon as i get them I will take a pic. These are my inspirational pics:

I hope all ya'll are as inspired to try something different.
Have a Great Thursday!

I Scream, You Scream

We all scream for ICE CREAM! Summer is coming to an end, so I had to celebrate one last summer treat with my students. In Science, we have been studying about States of Change (solid, liquid, and gas). I remembered making ice cream in a bag during High School and knew it would be PERFECT! This was so easy, but the kids LOVED it and of course thought I was the coolest! Smile We also made a mixture (a substance that can be separated) out of cheerios, pretzels, M & M’s, peanuts, and raisins. We even had cookies to show a chemical change!

Ice Cream in a Bag

image

1 gallon and quart size Ziploc bags

Ice (to fill half of the gallon bag)

Rock Salt

Chocolate Milk

1 teaspoon of sugar

1) Fill the gallon bag half way with ice and sprinkle with Rock salt.

2) Put quart size bag inside of the gallon bag and pour chocolate milk about half way.

3) Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of sugar into the milk.

4) Now it is time to SHAKE! You have to shake for about 5 to 10 mins. Of course this was the kids favorite part! Magically the LIQUID will turn into a SOLID!!

So easy and YUMMY! Check out some of the pictures on my school website (click pictures).

Meet Melissa the cutest blogger ever from http://blog.contemporarydancing.co.uk/
 Hi! Here it is:

A bit about myself!
Hello lovely readers! It is so exciting to be doing my first ever sort of guest post. I blog over at my own blog: Contemporary Dancing so come and say hello. I’m just a creative teenager suffering from school! However,  I’ve brightened up my life with dance and my beautiful friends! My blog is based on dancing and includes some of the struggles an aspiring dancer like me has to face. I grew up with dancing and currently study Contemporary at The Edge. My idol would have to be Bethany Rose Harrison and then probably Martha Graham for her amazing Graham technique which she gave Contemporary and it is used worldwide! Blogging, socialising and dancing are my life and I couldn’t part without them! J

Why did you start a blog in the first place?

I started blogging because I love both writing and dancing so I tried to combine the two. It was hard at first because I didn’t know where to start but I feel I have now found my feet! All I want is for my readers to enjoy! J

What are your hobbies?
Well apart from the obvious dancing, there is also listening to music and socialising. I feel I can connect and relate to music a lot and at the moment I am obsessed with ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ by One Direction-they’re great! I also love going shopping with my besties and also going to discos and parties! Fun, fun, fun!! J

Favourite book or magazine?
Well my favourite book has to be by the Beautiful Darcey Bussell, heard of her? It is her autobiography and is called ‘Life In Dance’ and is amazing! Hoping to do a book review on it later in the year! J

Favourite guilty pleasure?
Oh that would have to be shopping! I am very much into fashion and love going shopping with my best friend Jen. On my birthday, me and her went shopping two days in a row-now that’s what I call heaven! Well I have to go now guys but I hope you come and pop round and just say hi. Looking forward to hearing from you all and thanks Southern sisters for having me once again! J

Go check out her cute blog and say HI

I can't live without!

Here's the products I can't live without.

A product thumbnail of So Gorgeous Volumizing Shampoo 16 oz.
Best volumizing shampoo and the price is right.

This blush I love it gives me a glow and the pink is a good color for any skin tone.

This ones called Heatwave by Hardy Candy

I am obsessed with bronzer. Its the one product I would grab over anything else.

And for those dark circles, I've tried everything and this is my favorite one.

Well I worked a double yesterday and I am exhausted. Ya'll have a great Hump Day.

Chair Redo

I love finding ways to make something I already have into something new! My mother-in-law gave us this chair several years ago. I used it at a vanity for years.
 DSC00422(rev 1)
Since we have added on to the house, the color no longer went with the current décor. So what to do? Spray paint to the rescue!! Now I am very much a  novice at spray painting furniture and I learned what not to do through this process. It ended up working out in the end.
Before:
DSC05672(rev 1)
I started off by removing a few screws to take off the seat.
DSC05674(rev 1)
I pulled the first layer of fabric off to reveal
DSC05675(rev 0)
This LOVELY fabric!
DSC05676(rev 0)
I did not have fabric, but I did have an old sweater that was a charcoal gray.
DSC05673(rev 0)
It looks like a mess from underneath! I basically just placed the seat between the sweater layers and started stapling.  I later had to cut some holes to put the screws back in.
DSC05677(rev 0)
I originally wanted to spray it yellow, but the yellow I picked out was WAY too bright! I was going to use the chair in Andrew’s bathroom, but things changed. I had white spray at home, so I went with that. I know some of you are going to cringe, but I did not sand or prime. I just sprayed! Yes, it chipped some, but that was the look I was going for.
DSC05678(rev 0)
I wish I would have taken more pictures during the painting, but to be honest I was just trying to hurry! I was sweating bullets in the high 90 heat!
The AFTER!! I placed the chair in my entryway. A great place to put on shoes!

Say hello to my shabby dog Duncan!

What do you think?
